H? Monogram

The host's initial is set in type; the question inside it is written by hand.

The idea

A pencil-drawn question mark sits inside a humanist H. It dives behind the crossbar and comes out below as the sharpened pencil that has just pressed the dot.

In the main lockup the monogram is the H of the name, set like a drop cap in a book: Handcrafted Trivia starts with the question. The same pressed graphite dot also dots both i's in Trivia.

The wordmark is Alegreya Sans, a warm humanist face with pen-cut strokes, in pub green, pencil yellow, cedar and scorecard cream.

  • One letter The host's initial is the whole mark, so it works as an avatar at any size.
  • Written by hand The question mark has real pencil pressure, and the pencil that drew it is right there.
  • The drop cap The mark doubles as the first letter of the name, like the opening of a chapter.

Misuse

The logo only works when it is used as drawn. Avoid these.

✕ Don't stretch or squash it Scale evenly from a corner.
✕ Don't change the colors Green, yellow, cedar and cream only.
✕ Don't tilt it The H stands upright.
✕ No drop shadows or effects Flat color only.
✕ Don't put it on busy images Use a flat panel behind it.
✕ Don't fade it out No transparency or ghosted tints.
